STAR center is able to assist people to get gently used furniture for their home. We only serve people who need a whole house of furniture, not just one bed. We can provide the truck and people to help for a total of $250, which includes the furniture.
The service recipient will need to be able to pay $250 by themselves, through Magellan flex funds, their PNO, or donated by some other means. If they have the ability to pay the $250 dollars, please send me an E-mail with the person’s name and “needs furniture” in the subject line of the E-mail. Then in the body of the E-mail, list who lives in the home, i.e., 2 children, spouse/significant other. We will then place them on a waitlist, which usually takes 3-5 months. When their name comes up, they will need to pay us the $250. If they prefer to pay it over time, they can make payments until it is paid in full, but we will not give them the furniture until it is paid in full. The payment is to help with basic costs at the furniture bank and for the administrative costs to STAR.
Many people don’t have the money readily available when their name comes up on the list, so we keep them on the list but move onto the person inline. We have found that those the pay the money ahead of time often receive furniture faster for this reason.
This service is only available one time only per person, no matter the need for more furniture.
The person will receive: (this is all good quality used furniture, usually they will get approximately $1200-$1700 of furniture)

- 1 nightstand
- 1 dresser
- 1 couch
- A kitchen table and 2 chairs
- 1 lamp
If the person lives with others, each additional person will also get:
- 1 bed
- 1 nightstand
- 1 dresser
When the person’s name comes up for their turn for furniture, they will need to come with their CM to the furniture bank at the set scheduled time. They will be given 45 minutes to select their furniture and then directly after the selection, they will need to be able to load up the furniture and take it home.
