Peer Support Certification
S.T.A.R. offers a 4-day Hybrid Peer Support Certification Course twice per month. Participants have the option for In-person or Zoom participation. The Peer Support Training curriculum is comprehensive and developed in part by experienced peer support specialists. Our curriculum is interactive and consist of group discussion, module presentations, and role-playing activities to reinforce the training modules.
This course is designed to prepare you for certification as a Peer Support Specialist. You will gain the skills and knowledge that you need to help others in their individual recovery journey. All graduates will earn the credential required to work as a peer support specialist.
Graduates of the course are issued a certificate of completion that credentials and can qualify them to work as a Peer & Recovery Support Specialist (PRSS), Peer Support, Peer Mentor, as well as, other entry-level healthcare worker positions.
The course meets or exceeds the competency standards established by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) and is approved and recognized by AHCCCS.
